DEIS launches as NZ's privacy compliance platform for every side of the Privacy Act 2020

DEIS (deis.nz) is now live — a New Zealand-built platform that helps businesses run compliant third-party data lookups and helps individuals understand and exercise their privacy rights under the Privacy Act 2020.

The problem

Every day, NZ organisations pull personal information from Carjam, PPSR, the Companies Office, NZBN, credit bureaus, and dozens of other sources. Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP3A) requires agencies to take reasonable steps to ensure individuals are aware when their data is collected from a third party — and to keep evidence of how that obligation was met.
