What is the main takeaway from "DEIS now integrates with Xero: sync contacts, run compliant lookups"?
Connect your Xero account to DEIS and run privacy-compliant lookups on your existing client base without re-entering data.
How does DEIS help with Privacy Act compliance?
DEIS aggregates NZ data sources (Carjam, PPSR, credit bureaus, and more) and records IPP3A evidence on every lookup. Individuals receive transparency notifications; businesses get an audit-ready evidence trail at deis.nz.
Is DEIS a legal adviser?
No. DEIS is a compliance platform that records lookup pathways and evidence. Organisations should confirm legal positions with their counsel or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner where needed.
We are thrilled to announce our Xero integration is now live. DEIS users can connect their Xero account and import contacts directly, eliminating double-entry and making it faster to run compliant lookups on existing clients and contacts.
How it works
Go to Settings → Integrations in your DEIS dashboard.
Click "Connect Xero" and authorise DEIS to read your contacts.
Your Xero contacts appear in your DEIS contact list, synced automatically.
Run lookups on any synced contact — IPP3A compliance is captured as usual.
What syncs?
DEIS imports contact names, email addresses, and phone numbers from Xero. We do not access your financial data, invoices, or bank feeds. The integration is read-only for contacts.
Why this matters
Many DEIS users are accounting firms, finance companies, and professional services businesses that already manage their client base in Xero. This integration means you do not need to re-enter client details into DEIS — your contact list is always up to date.
Privacy considerations
The Xero sync itself does not trigger IPP3A because the information comes from your own records (which you collected directly from the individuals). IPP3A obligations arise when you run a lookup on those contacts through a third-party data source — and DEIS handles that automatically.
