Getting started: how to set up your DEIS account in 5 minutes
A step-by-step guide to creating your DEIS account, connecting data sources, and running your first compliant lookup.
Setting up DEIS takes about five minutes. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough.
Step 1: Sign up
Go to deis.nz and enter your work email address. We send you a magic link — no password needed. Click the link to access your dashboard.
Step 2: Complete your business profile
Navigate to Settings and fill in your business details: trading name, NZBN, and primary contact. This information appears on notifications sent to individuals.
Step 3: Connect data sources
Go to Settings → Integrations. You will see the available data sources: Carjam, PPSR, Companies Office, NZBN, Centrix, Equifax, and others. Click "Connect" on each source you want to use and follow the authentication steps.
Step 4: Import contacts (optional)
If you use Xero, connect your account to import your existing contacts. You can also add contacts manually or import a CSV.
Step 5: Run your first lookup
Go to Lookups → New Lookup. Select a data source, enter the search query, and choose the IPP3A pathway. DEIS captures the compliance evidence and returns the results.
What happens next?
Every lookup is logged in your Evidence Trail. If you selected the notification pathway, DEIS sends the notification automatically and records proof of delivery. Your audit trail builds itself.
