What is the main takeaway from "New feature: bulk lookups with batch compliance"?
Run up to 100 lookups at once with the same IPP3A pathway. Perfect for portfolio reviews and batch processing.
How does DEIS help with Privacy Act compliance?
DEIS aggregates NZ data sources (Carjam, PPSR, credit bureaus, and more) and records IPP3A evidence on every lookup. Individuals receive transparency notifications; businesses get an audit-ready evidence trail at deis.nz.
Is DEIS a legal adviser?
No. DEIS is a compliance platform that records lookup pathways and evidence. Organisations should confirm legal positions with their counsel or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner where needed.
We have launched bulk lookups in DEIS, allowing you to run up to 100 lookups in a single batch with a shared IPP3A compliance pathway.
When to use bulk lookups
Portfolio reviews. Finance companies reviewing their loan book can run updated credit checks on all active borrowers in one batch.
Fleet management. Vehicle fleet operators can run Carjam checks on all vehicles simultaneously.
Annual compliance audits. Run checks on all contacts to ensure records are current.
How it works
Go to Lookups → Bulk Lookup.
Upload a CSV of names/identifiers, or select contacts from your DEIS contact list.
Choose the data source.
Select the IPP3A pathway that applies to the entire batch.
Provide the justification (e.g., "Annual portfolio review per loan agreement clause 12.3").
Submit. DEIS processes the lookups and records individual compliance evidence for each.
Compliance considerations
For bulk lookups, you need to ensure the selected IPP3A pathway genuinely applies to every individual in the batch. If some individuals have different consent status, split them into separate batches.
Rate limits
Bulk lookups are processed at a rate that respects data source API limits. A batch of 100 lookups typically completes within 5–10 minutes. You receive an email notification when the batch is complete.
